Have you had a check in with your supervisor to see how things are going? Couch it in a 90 day check in or whatever, but it is worth seeing if the perception on the other end is the same or if you are being a harder critic on yourself than others are. I’ve been there and had that be the case. It can only help no matter how the conversation turns out.
My supervisor checks in with me regularly. The issue is that I don’t think that she has a full grasp of my performance because her role is not to work with me day-to-day.
Dang, sorry you’re going through this. I’m personally chomping at the bit to find work atm, and know that when I land something I could end up going through the same thing as you.
Is it technical issues, the lack of a social environment, or burnout from trying to keep up with the new WFH whiplash? All the above?
If I were you, I’d see if there were other options available before making a decision. I’d also take a step back from the work when you can, clear your mind with a walk and music, and eat something healthy. Try to get a full nights rest, take a melatonin before getting ready for bed.
It sounds dumb, but if it’s stressing you out to the point where you’re not eating or sleeping...eat and sleep first. Just focus on one thing at a time and stay on top of your health, hopefully things become a little easier on a full stomach.
I wish I could be more helpful.
Gah I’m sorry. Starting a new job in lockdown, especially as an extrovert, is so hard! Agree with DM1 above. That’s good advice before pulling the plug.
Unfortunately I think these feelings are shared in many places as the boundaries between work and life get even more blurred with WFH, but that certainly doesn’t mean your mental and physical health should be suffering. I would recommend a check in with your direct supervisor as some others have mentioned and take it from there.
Yes, I’ll talk to her again. Thank you!

Don’t be so hard on yourself OP. It usually takes about 5/6 months to get comfortable in a new job with new processes and that’s during NORMAL times. You’re working from home and flying blind which makes the transition even tougher. You’ll get there. (I’m in the same boat btw; started a new job while remote)
Thank you. I’m trying not to be hard on myself, but this is supposed to be the honeymoon phase of work. We’re supposed to operate business as usual, but it’s tough when you’re still unsure of the usual. I hop jobs fairly regularly, and it has never taken me this long to get on board.
Some places suck. It's like dating - not everything works out and that's natural.
Try to gtfo before they bounce you.
Definitely talk to someone - a peer, an adjacent/trustworthy leader type. Your recruiter/HR person. Starting during lockdown is so hard.
I want to reach out to someone before I jump ship, but I don’t trust anyone here. I’m afraid of being thrown under the bus since I don’t fully understand the culture here.
I think you answered your own question. Sorry you're not happy at your new job but sometimes it's not a good fit. Better to acknowledge that now than years from now. Remember that your employer has invested time and money in your hire so it's to their advantage to keep you but if you've talked to your supervisor and things can't be resolved then start looking for the next opportunity. Good luck.

OP: Which department? Just to get a sense of the type of stress. Eg. Is it competition on briefs? Or are you managing teams that you’ve never met? Like maybe it’s because you don’t know anybody well enough. And maybe if there was an actual office it would be different.
My role is little bit of a hybrid. My stress comes from mostly adjusting to the different personalities and technical setups. I think that having little connection with the coworkers makes it harder. Add the current corona crisis, and it’s a potential disaster.
Mental Health is paramount. No shame in leaving if you know it’s not working.
Yes, agreed. Mental health first.
OP: which office?
