Yeah they said even if our citizens are vaccinated, we may not allow travel because we don’t know enough about the vaccines. If vaccines don’t work, nothing ever will. Seems like a whack statement.

Ah gotcha. Sigh...well I guess I’ll just go to Hawaii if all else fails and cry on the beach about missing 4 international trips in 2 years.
Whats in it for them to open up with vaccines and somewhat relaxed quarantine/testing — Education $$$ and Tourism $$$ Whats in it for them to shut shop — Prevent lockdowns / spread of covid. My prediction is that at some-point open will be more appealing to that country than close (with vaccines) .

Right so it’s crazy they’re already saying now, even before they’ve started their vaccine distribution, that they won’t consider any outsiders in at all for a year. Maybe they’re economy isn’t in as tight a spot as the US/UK and need the cash flow but still.

Yeah it does...I was really hoping that they’d utilize the inoculation passport that ticketmaster is going to use for their events (I read Salesforce, Oracle, and Microsoft are working with like the WHO on developing one for travel), but I guess not. I’m thinking if I do travel internationally at all this year, I’d only trust countries that 1) have testing/quarantine requirements to get in (aka no Mexico or the Caribbean) and 2) are currently open now because it shows they’re already “comfortable” and may be more accepting once vaccines roll out. I’d consider South Korea and Ireland since they’re both requiring mandatory 2 week hotel stays but hoping that by October, maybe they’d drop that if you proved you are vaccinated. Has anyone been to either during this time? I’ve seen influencers in Seoul and it seems fine (plus Asia does a much better job handling this anyways even if stuff is closed).
Following. Also considering Seoul post vaccination especially if they will let us in without the 2 week hotel stay..

Yeah that 2 week stay would be an additional $1-2k and then that also means 4 weeks PTO. Maybe you could work those 2 weeks you’re in quarantine to save the PTO but you’d be like 18 hours ahead or whatever....so that’d be hella rough. So yeah, really hoping when they start their roll out in March they become more lenient.
