Hi fishers! I have offer and signed contract with Deloitte UK and my start day is in the beginning of April. I need skilled worker visa, and we haven’t applied yet for that. Screening and onboarding is in progress. Immigration team doesn’t reply since reached me out 1st time. How much time does it usually needed to go through the whole process? How many days take for visa to be approved since application?Deloitte
I see several posts from people asking how they can help during these times with a few extra $$$ to spend. Here is just one of many ideas.

#stepuptothetable is about helping local restaurants who are struggling during these times. I have seen numerous linkedin posts with videos where people challenge each other to step up to the table & buy meals & gift cards from their community restaurants. A great way for those of us who are more fortunate to support business & keep people employed.

Got messaged by a C3 . ai recruiter. Read that wlb is bad and that the interview process is absurdly long, but the Glassdoor reviews are 4.2 and can't find actual hours worked posted by anyone. How's the culture really? I'd be aiming for DS consulting, something more functional but with DS/ML concepts as my differentiator.

Obviously biased, but I’d go with BCG. I don’t know much about Bain’s DS org, but what I do know is that BCG and McKinsey have been investing heavily in DS capabilities for years, and the DS roles in Gamma and QuantumBlack have parity with generalists in terms of pay and progression. Even if Bain matches those standards, they certainly would not exceed them.
Note that this is based off my experience in NAMR
Internal trajectory: 2 years per promotion. DS salary is the same as associate if you have a bachelors and between associate and consultant if you have an MS (possibly more depending on experience). Next level is SDS, which has the same pay as consultant. Then LDS=PL, AD = Principal, then partner and MDP same as core.
Exit opportunities are usually DS or MLE type roles in tech companies. Depends on your case experience ofc. I’ve seen some great offers.
Client portfolio varies by project type. I’d say the typical client is a large legacy corp or industrial, but there are well-funded startups in the mix too. Lots of banks recently. Obviously can’t divulge every client but the Starbucks rewards case is well publicized and representative of the personalization practice, which is a big area in Gamma.
Work culture wise I am very satisfied. Mostly comparable to general BCG culture, which is imo excellent as far as work quality, employee treatment, learning. WLB will be similarly tough, should be ready to do 55-60 hour average weeks. Possibly more, possibly less depending on case and who you work for. Diversity wise, I’m satisfied with the firm’s programs but I personally don’t prioritize that as much so YMMV. For what it’s worth, Gamma is probably less white than BCG in general, and BCG overall is less white than Bain.
For a bottom line, MBB is usually very similar on salary, benefits, type of work, exits. The main thing I would do is get clarity on whether Bain’s DS track is aligned to generalist pay and progression like BCG and McK’s (I’m curious about that myself). Apart from that, I would recommend Gamma as the more established practice with proven internal structures

Yeah everyone gets bonus, more with each level. At LDS level it’s mostly it’s the latter
If you don’t know the salary and benefits then you don’t have an offer. Work on that first.
Lmfaoooo - apply to both then get an offer then go from there
McK and BCG are 3-5 years ahead of Bain in maturity of their data units, so Bain would be okay in that they're frantically trying to grow that unit to keep up (means it's easier to stay in the job), but does mean you'll have a less strong organisation around you to learn from, less project variety etc.
I honestly didn't even know Bain hired data scientists until now. Anyone know what its like working as one there?
