Been passively looking for several years to switch solo in-house roles, I’ve gotten down the road in a few interview processes, but not many. Dozens of applications, maybe triple digits? Obviously the answer rate is like 10%, on a good day, but no offers. I worry that if I was laid off tomorrow, I wouldn’t be able to find employment again. Went to a good regional school, have every bit of relevant industry experience, corporate governance and competent generalist. It’s really scary.

Have an interview with a company I really want to work for tomorrow. My last job I was laid off b/c of an acquisition&recently accepted a job at a diff company b/c I couldnt afford not to. I have an interview with JP Morgan this week for a Channel Marketing Manager - VP role in the Asset Management area. The role will be based in NYC. Just curious what is the normal range for the base salary and total comp.

They are force innocents to resign by themselves and threating then to not to mail anyone and not share this context to anyone worst company, if layoff means ok removing and threatening to not to disclose to anyone means the have lost every single moral. Boomer. I am in between jobs. Laid off in 10/21 after 16+ yrs, with an ABA firm. RIF. Still on excellent terms. Took my time living off generous package and didn’t seriously start applying until 01/22. Made a rookie mistake and accepted first offer.
Turns out job wasn’t as advertised. Mutual parting of ways 3/22. Due diligence is critical.
Now interviewing a LOT. Some temp work, I still have “it”. I relate to all gens. Willing to mentor AND learn from all. Tech savvy, CTE from day one. Leads?

I have practiced for five years and make $121k as an employee of a financial services company. As the only attorney, I oversee all statewide collections efforts, from demand letter to garnishment, with a case volume of nearly 7k new cases per year, of which the majority I end up litigating. I receive only a $1k bonus per year. Is my compensation fair? My last insurance defense gig was $75k.

Can anyone help me wrap my head around this post Series C start-up equity offer? It’s an IP director position, the the base is $170 with 10% bonus (both lower than I was expecting). There’s also an equity component: 0.15% of current fully diluted equity. This equates to about 30000 shares at a strike price of $2. They also indicate the preferred stock price is $6 and preferred stock equity is $188k (whatever that means). They are in the middle of a new financing and valuation round.

What would be a typical salary for a junior in house counsel role (3 yoe) at a publicly traded company in a secondary market (think Austin, Tampa, Charlotte)? I’m having a really hard time finding what a reasonable range would be. Most positions I’m applying to require desired salary in the application, and the truth is I’d accept anything north of 125k but don’t want to undersell myself and take a bigger cut than necessary coming from biglaw.

How is productivity measured for in-house attorneys? Is there any analog of billable hours for in-house lawyers?

Considering taking a position with a small-cap in the US trying to build their legal department. The title is standard “counsel” although the work would be with the senior leadership team and reporting to the GC in Europe. How reasonable is it to ask for a bump in title - Senior counsel or Head of Legal, US? If it matters, I am a 6th year and have been told that I will be expected to hire a junior or paralegal as we build up.
