I constantly lose things, especially at events and there’s a little bit of drinking involved… so I bought a gas station pair of imitation Ray Bans for $25… went to a concert last week, tailgated, it was dark when we left… they’re gone… no idea what happened to them… it was the difference between me saying F it and a frantic search…

Not a great investment, but I guess an equivalent of an insurance policy versus the real thing… I’ve literally lost $1,000s of dollars in sunglasses… but a smart money move in deed…

I'm the same way. The only sunglasses I've been able to keep long term never leave my car and even then I've lost a few of them somehow.

A new golf glove. Don't know why, but I despise paying for them. Old one had started to resemble a used Kleenex though, so it was time.

Check out the Kirkland gloves if you have a Costco membership. They’re dirt cheap and great quality.

Does anyone have any side gigs or know of any gig types for project managers? Projects themselves need too much attention to manage on the side of our already busy days.

I joined an agency about 2 months ago and every single day I get more responsibilities, to the point that I don't even know what my actual job title is. I'm frustrated, to say the least.

I'm a Canadian on the TN visa working in the US and planning on maxing my Roth IRA (6k) and will have enough left to max my 401k this year, but am not sure if I should just use a taxable account over 401k due to tax considerations when I move back to Canada (likely 1-2 years from now). Any thoughts here? I don't think I'll have enough RRSP room to move 401k>IRA>RRSP and I would prefer to not have to file US taxes every year in retirement for withdrawls if I left the 401k in the US.

Is there a definitive guide to cost of living? The obvious cost of living centers (SF, NYC, LA etc.) get covered a lot, but I’m wondering where my city falls. It’s a modest Midwest city with ~100k residents but is a relatively touristy spot. It often feels like a MCOL area but I’m not sure how to adequately judge that, and it would be helpful to know when comparing salaries and the like.

I’m maxing out my 401K, traditional IRA and HSA this year and paying for some house improvements. I have about $750K total investments and very close to $2M net worth, but realize that I am behind on investments if I want to do FIRE. I was focused on paying off huge chunks of my mortgage and managed to whittle it down to $75K left. Would you suggest I go ahead and pay that off this year? Or pause and do a mega back door roth instead? I’m mid 40s. Thanks!

My monthly salary is around $6.4k after-tax. Living in NYC. Do you think it’s reasonable that I pay:
- about $1.5k on rent
- about $500 on utilities and subscriptions
- about $900 on student loan
- about $2k on food and etc.
My saving goals is around $3k so been trying to adjust my monthly spending.
