When I first had kids, I had very similar concerns as my father was either gone or a horrible example when he was around.
The mere fact that you are asking this question tells me you will be fine.
Love, patience, and respect. I tell my boys I love them more times in one day than I ever heard from my dad. Give them a safe space to express emotions and have feelings. Respect their individuality, sarcasm for kids can be harmful as they might not get it, be outwardly proud of who they are and their interests even.
I like what D1 said, the fact that you are asking this means you’ll be just fine. There’s no set of rules or template for being a good dad, but if you’re being thoughtful about what kind of parent you want to be you’ll do great.

Be loving, laugh sometimes, throw a dad joke in at times, teach by example not via words alone, respect them but don’t be afraid to lecture when necessary, help but let them fight their own little battles as and monitor as a coach. Preach what they need to hear not what they want to hear, kick back and watch their show unfold.
Uh and most importantly BE THERE
No book recommendation from me, I found it important to find activities in your area that you can share with them.
