Associate. Trust me, you don't want to be measured against our Consultants who either have two years at BCG already or MBAs with have 5 to 7 years of work experience.
I agree with BCG1
Associate
EY1, I didn’t have a connection, but I actually wrote a cover letter. Seems that that made the difference 🤷🏽♀️
3, your saying come in at same level as straight out of college associates, and just be able to blow them out of the water?
I have 2 years of experience and I asked to come in at entry level, I want to learn and develop the BCG way, idc about the college grads. Good luck on your interviews OP, hope to see you on the other side.
OP - that would be the ideal outcome for you, yes.
Candidly, I’d assume much of your Accenture work is garbage, so not sure how much of it translates. Starting from scratch is likely necessary
OP. Could you please share tips on securing an interview with BCG? .
^ following as well. I’m in the same boat for an interview at BCG. Was told I’d either come in at Associate or Sr. Associate, depending on my interview. Knowing that Consultants have MBAs though, makes me feel a bit better (no MBA here).
I know it’s hard, but I’d make the NPV play - if you come in at Associate, you’re better set up for success to get the promotion to Consultant in a year or two, where you’d be making ~200k+ and a path to double that again in another 2 years.
I had a good friend come in a couple of years ago as a senior Associate and couldn’t make it above the bar in time and transitioned out after 18 months...
100% agreed. Try to come in at the lowest level possible.
Hard to come in as senior associate with 2 years experience. Promotion to consultant is more about personal trajectory, don’t focus on out performing others
Appreciated BCGers. I would move over for the same salary level don’t get me wrong, but would they normally bring me in at a bit higher of a salary level?
And EY, a I have pretty strong connection. All there is to it
Re salary, if you come in as a senior associate you’ll make more, but all of our associates make the same salary
4, thank you for the insight!
OP what region are you in?
Mid Atlantic
Was there a waiting period between you submitting the application and receiving the interview?
Took about 2-3 weeks.
SC 1. Just curious what office did you apply for? Is there a strategy on which offices to apply for lateral hires? Did you apply for generalist or specialist?
