Brand name versus type of experience. Assume experience at the brand name will be less relevant to what I want to do long-term. The “brand” in this case is not Big 4/MBB

That’s technically not a question

Ok good luck with that, at the end of the day you still work for Booz.

like

Experience only matters if people believe the experience was real

like

E.g., if you want to do corporate strategy and don’t work at MBB, then you’re better off working at a small boutique that specializes in strategy instead of doing general MC at big4/booz/acn. Just my opinion.

like

Experience doesn’t matter unless you are the only one that can do that job. Perception is reality

like

Brand can definitely be an asset but honestly, i would probably go for experience if you really think that is more aligned with what you want to do after.

like

Brand name, including Booz Allen, can help exit to an industry that aligns to your experience or usually a smaller firm. However, I believe that QUALITY experience in the type of work you want to do is much better and more transferable (this is relevant to experiences that are not general Mc).

There is not a generic answer to this question - it all depends on the specifics

Tips for bankruptcy associates who eventually want to move in-house? 3rd year associate in bankruptcy/restructuring group doing mainly bk lit but a few deals too. Need to stay in BL for at least another year for the money, but eventually want to move in-house. Currently a paralegal at a small start up financial services company been there for just a little over a year. I wear “multiple hats” but more recently I’ve done a lot of PM work and some BA work. My position title is changing soon but I’m wondering how helpful that would be for wanting to go into PM work at a tech company. Anyone have any career pivot advice? Interested to hear thoughts on this: 5+ YOE in FS consulting as an SC at tier 3 firm. Interviewing at Deloitte for an SC position. I have a good reputation and setup at my firm and am on a great track to make Manager in 1-2 years. However, no one has heard of my firm and am really interested in a M7 MBA before I'm 30 (so enroll in 2-3 years). What is more valuable for an MBA: making manager at a no name firm or the "prestige" of having Deloitte on my resume?

I need some advice. I was a freelance photographer for the past 8 years- commercial & art direction. I currently work in house & my title is “Marketing Associate.” A title that doesn’t fit my background at all as a creative. My role consists of: commercial photography, graphic design & art direction- creating campaigns from development through creative execution. This title makes me feel trapped. Also, the higher ups have zero background in art or design here. Please advise. Title change or go?

Fish who have been feds,

I have been stuck deciding between two offers (both in IC, but one is more program analysis -similar to consulting work but on the fed side, and actual analysis).

The program analysis offer is at a higher GS level and a more well known agency, but is not what I’m interested in.

Does anyone have any advice on how to make a decision? Go with what I want to do, or go with the more well known agency and higher gs?
