You can always be an independent contractor. This is extremely common in the UK/Europe where labour laws make it advantageous to be independent but less common in the US.
There are a ton of them out there already as well. May want to do some research into them and figure out what makes you different
Haven’t actually seen these. Thanks!
Of course, you have to pay part of your fees to the provider and their shareholders and you pay more of your fees for them to provide you with tech, HR, office space, projects to work on, etc…
Isn’t this just a consulting firm?
The difficult part is most of us have moonlighting clauses in our contracts that forbid consulting-based side hustles.
There used to be a site called Clarity.fm where you paid per minute for professional advice (site isn’t really maintained anymore). I remember meeting Ryan Hoover from Product Hunt on there and we talked about Kanye West.
You can find niche-marketplaces like this (growth marketing, product management, tech).
Microsoft is actually well positioned to launch this type of service in LinkedIn. They’re already starting to do some of it with resume services and coaching.

How much money are we talking?
Depends on the lift. 10-15k for the two weeks if I can slide it in around my day job.

Youre looking at this from the freelancer’s point of view only. Clients (consultancies) have super niche projects with high stakes, and therefore need people who have proven themselves that they can staff. This white collar gig-economy as you call it already exists, but its all relationship based and/or goes through recruiters. Because this way clients dont need to take a risk on people and they can also get them quickly. A website post can take days before relevant people apply and are screened. I cant see a website ever the current model effectively.
