Buying flight tickets for a bachelor party and not checking a bag... Buy on a card earning 3.5% back? OR Buy on my AAdvantage card earning 2x miles? TPG's points valuation is redemption-focused, and not clear on earning.

It’s not really cut and dry. Let’s say you spent $1000 on tickets - - scenario 1: $35 cash back - scenario 2: 2,000 miles + 1,000 loyalty points. At 1.4 cents per point, that’s $28 worth of points plus whatever you value loyalty points at. I’m not sure where checking bags come in. It really depends on how you value the loyalty points. It takes 200,000 LP to get to EP and if you value EP at $5,000, the 1,000 LP are worth $25. So AA card is $53.

Thanks for the breakdown! Checking bags was just bc that's a free perk of using the AA card (effectively a free $35 if needed), but it looks like I should just take the cash back. This one is a simple $180 RT to Miami. Mainly got the AA card for the signup bonus and free bags, swiping on it seems mostly worthless.

What card has 3.5% back?

BofA Premium Rewards Card (with 75% multiplier via Preferred Rewards tier) 3.5% on all dining and travel, no quarterly limit If I was being really aggressive, BofA also has a card that can get 5.25% back on a category of your choice, but it caps to the first $2,500 per quarter. I use it mostly for online shopping though

Need advice: I just started this week at my new company and prior to joining I brought tickets with my friends together for a one week vacation to the West Coast. It will be the week of 7/4. Now I just talked to my manager about taking the week off, but found out we are actually really busy that week. There were some compromise, but still not ideal. I have really 3 options: change my group flight, cancel, or work during the vacation. Any other options or advice will be helpful!

What are your favorite credit cards for rewards? We buy everything on our cards so spend upwards of $10k/mo (all paid off in full), but I’m not taking enough advantage of rewards. Currently getting Amazon points but would like to pivot more to travel. Clubs aren’t important to me, more actual points to use on flights for our family of 5, or hotels etc. What are your favorites? Or is there an awesome non-travel we should consider?
