Can someone explain this to me so I understand??

I had an initial phone screening for a company and they asked for my salary range so I gave them one which fell in line with what they were thinking. They mentioned that the position was hourly with eligibility for overtime. It would be 35 hours a week with 5 hours of unpaid lunch. I just want a salaried job, but does this matter??? I'm so confused on why it's not salaried. It's a marketing job at a law firm.
