I just made this move. Do it. Less pressure, don’t have to worry about constantly being on a case, no firm initiatives really, you can try different kinds of work, but it might not be as exciting depending on case (mostly strategy work even in Platinion), great benefits, looks good on resume.
Agreed it’s a lot of PowerPoint.
Do you mind me asking your salary? Trying to figure out what SC and Manager ranges are
Depends what you want to do and reasons for shifting? I personally have found it to be a bad move. Don’t believe the hype, you’ll do the same work that Deloitte do but at a lower position. You’ll be treated second class, and trust me it impacts your happiness. Your technology skills will erode as you become a lower point monkey explaining basic tech concepts to core resources. Your client interaction will be minimal - you are a back office functions. You won’t get the skills you need for the future - project management etc.
Think long and hard but I’d say 80% of my ex-big4 peers are dissatisfied with the move
Would depend what you wanted to exit as. As I mentioned you won’t get any project management or client relationship experience so hard to step out into leadership role.
Maybe if you wanted to leave as a solution architect?
Also, depends if you want to stay in tech. People don’t go to BCG to find tech resources.
I’m saying that, it may help you get noticed. But your skills will really suffer in the meantime and if you think about what your competitors for those roles are learning over those three years while you’re doing PowerPoint, are you really equipped for those roles?
Counterpoint- do it. SCs start around 130, 15-30% bonus. Unrivaled benefits. If you want to push yourself, this is your chance. We’re doing high impact work with much more senior clients than D. That said, all chapters not created equal. What are you looking at?
