I’m about to start an internship at IBM for UX Research. I’m super excited about it, and was wondering if anyone could tell me about the design culture there or how the company is for designers? So far online I’ve only heard about the company from consultants or software engineers. For more reference I’ll be working in Austin.

Received an offer as Engagement Director from Salesforce (CSG, pre sales, L9). Great benefits package, 40% increase in total comp and better WLB.
I do love the people in my practice and current client, but career trajectory has stalled after taking parental leave earlier this year and (yet another) change in leadership.
Realistically, making to Director is 2-3 years away and will require sacrificing time with my family that I am not prepared to give up.
Should I stay or should I go?

I'm curious what the average salary is for an Associate Agent. I'm licensed & do everything after the sale is made as well as refer new business. I have 14 years in the industry but have been at the current company less than a year, so I know that plays a part as well. Anyone in a like-position by chance?State Farm Allstate Travelers

A lot of corporate politics just comes down to being personable and being able to converse with people. If you're friendly with your coworkers you'll hear a lot. Too many people think of corporate politics in terms of executing Machiavellian plots, but people who do that generally just get themselves in trouble. The most productive office politics are much more benign.

This is true. I tend to do well in the office because I have a very personable personality. My wife is an introvert and she struggles with it.
I just try to be me. I don’t want to be someone I’m not and then get to a place I hate.
I am introverted, I have zero need or desire outside of work to be social. I am direct but helpful at work. I may not be the party person but I am thoughtful. I am blunt. I interact enough that people know who I am. My work speaks for itself. If i see a question I show where the answer is and I give it. I see it as prevention from someone asking the same question over and over again or me getting stuck with their work when they get fired. This has not stopped me from being promoted. .
I found the book How To Make Friends and Influence People to be really helpful. It breaks down what motivates people and how to connect with them. It's also helped me immensely with office politics.
