Hi Fishes,
How is the Annual hike in Bristlecone?
Anyone else moon lighting here ?
Curious to know if you've legitimately declared it to your core job peers and if yes how are you balancing ?
What I know is if i can be a manager at a regular office and yet have my own start up venture(s) on various other skills, it shouldn't ideally conflict but some HR do poke in between
Anyone from Accenture India ?

cap one strat is more prestigious
Altman Solon isn’t even a top consulting firm
Wut
These are two very different offers but I’ll try and tackle each point:
1. Learnings: inclined to say Altman Solon, mostly driven by the fact it’s consulting / longer hours rather than anything Altman specific
2. Prestige / exit opp (grouped as one is a function of the other): On balance prob Cap One but again depends - Cap One far better known brand, but if you’re keen on a career in TMT then Altman will carry you well too. If you want PE then Altman for sure
3. BSchool - similar to above. Both good but blue chips tend to win out unless it’s MBB
To divert from your question, these are two very different jobs that will lead to two very different lifestyles, but both will leave you in good stead after a couple of years. Neither of these will DQ you from much down the line. I’d try to focus on what you actually want as opposed to things like prestige / exits.
Depends on what you’re interested in. Capital one work would be very different than Altman Solon in pretty much everything except the strategy framework/thinking. Also depends on what you want to do long term when talking about exit opps.
As an undergrad straight out I’d take Altman Solon for the consulting path.
Cap 1 by a mile. You’ll regret AS for sure
What are you solving for? You're comparing a top consulting boutique vs the corporate strat team of a F500 commercial bank, where your colleagues will mostly be burnt out or underperforming consultants.
- Comp trajectory will be better at Altman
- Learning curve will be steeper at Altman bc of the project variety
- W/L balance will probably be better at CapOne but depends on your team.
- Altman will provide more optionality in terms of exit ops. I don't think there's anything outside of an ops role at a financial svcs company where CapOne would open more doors vs Altman where there are many other natural career paths
- bschool placement is probably at parity but if I had to pick one I'd go with Altman bc variance of talent at CapOne will be greater
Take solom. Can always go back to cap one later in your career
I mean, are they comparable? If you’re interested in TMT then it’s not close. And AS pay is great and has great exit opps. Not sure about Cap 1
