Career direction within Mechanical Engineering?
Have a Master's degree and worked in Sheetmetal Manufacturing for 3 years. It's not my cup of tea, I am looking to navigate my career to a different industry, something more challenging with a higher career growth potential.
Any reccomendations on how I can pivot towards a different role in a different industry?

You could work for a consulting firm doing HVAC design, or HVAC equipment sales. Either way if you're sticking with HVAC, work on getting your PE.

ME3 I really have no idea what you mean by that comment. Consultants aren't engineers? They don't do technical work? What does large vs small companies have anything to do with it? You may have assumed something different than what I meant by "consultant"?

Find companies in your area that are small to mid sized (100 employees or less worldwide), that are offering complex products or services utilizing their own complex products, and apply to no less than x1 opening every week. Once you get in, if your not moving towards working on the complex system/service and your manager is not open to moving towards working in that area of the company, find work somewhere else. For example, my company produces multiple robotic systems, and will either sell the systems to customers, or will sell a service to a customer to solve a complex problem using the robotic systems we produce. My company was small when I joined (only 40 employees), so they had to utilize every resource they could get to build there systems which meant I got to work on the interesting stuff, which lead to me becoming an expert in their products and services.

Never been in an SE or consulting or B2B sales role before but have a referral at Salesforce and have been in some informal conversations. I’m starting to freak out a bit now that maybe I can’t do it. I have a tech background so can handle that part, but perhaps strategy may be difficult. Anyone make the transition to an SE role that have some advice?

Has anyone found a way to automate salary certifications?

We get about 3-5 requests daily to fill out salary certifications for our employees in EMEA.

At the moment, we have to do all of them manually. We open a pdf, then open their employee file and plug away. It's tedious and time-consuming, but the banks I found won't accept an internal salary certification for some reason. They're adamant about using their form. Has anyone come across this?

This is my first job in a large corporate company, and I’m trying to gauge how long it normally takes to move from entry level to another internal position in the insurance industry. I have been applying internally for a year now and I am wondering if this is normal or if my company is just slow? I am a top performer, with great metrics, and I have some wonderful connections I’ve made who support me. I just can’t seem to move up. How long did it take you to move up? How many tries did it take?

How far into implementation and execution do you get as a strategist (and what's your specialty). Just had an unclear moment where it seemed like I was expected to vet production partners and I didn't realize I should've .

Recently accepted a temp role as an HR admin for a former employer. Previously interned there & left because my supervisor did not have any growth opportunities planned out for me; this was in spite of my stellar performance, as reflected in my 90 day review. She has since left the company, but there’s crazy turnover in the company & in the HR department in particular. Just that an HR coordinator resigned. Is it worth going back into a dumpster fire w/ no leadership to gain experience?
