I’ve worked at AT&T as a sales consultant for 6 years and 8 months where we prospect, uncover, and close on leads. I’ve used Salesforce for the past 4 years during my tenure. I’ve done B2B sales where I’ve received awards for it for 2 years consecutively. Loads of troubleshooting, uncovering needs through consultative styled selling, and tech app subscriptions.
I was wondering if I have the necessary skills to transition into a tech sales role. If so, what would be the best role/fit for me?Amazon Salesforce Google @

What type of consulting are you aiming for? If you want to get into data science @ MBB or anything remotely technical then yes absolutely switch to CS.
No need to drop Econ for CS but honestly CS is pretty useful and I would recommend you to just take an intro class to see if you like it. If you can get a minor in CS it can be super beneficial.
Case in point: for one consulting project we had to move a ton of files into individual folders for like thousands of employees. I wrote a quick code that done the whole thing in seconds instead of physically moving files for a whole day.
Pretty sure most generalist consultants at MBB can’t write a for loop, let alone reverse a linked list, or even distinguish between Java and JavaScript. Do CS if you want to pursue software engineering or data science. They are great careers, but they might not be for you. If you want to be a consultant, Econ is fine
I would say not to drop Econ, especially if youre actually interested in it and you think your GPA would be higher. At the end of the day its less about what you study and more about going to a good school, a very good GPA, and having enough business knowledge do well during casing. Ive seen history majors end up at McK
Unfortunately the school often matters more than the major. I studied English and got in 🙃
the school u go to also matters a lot unfrotunaley (or fortunately) what school do u go to?
got it! like the perosn below me said, school matters a lot. i’m not too familiar with it MBB targets ur school. i’d say post abt it on one of the bowls ask if this is a target school for MBB
also maybe do some linkedin searches
You’re fine. Just relax.
