There is a recent post on FB from Cognizant unable to get interviews, so be careful

I always enjoy hearing the opinions of those who have never been in at Cognizant telling people what it's like at Cognizant. So here's the advice of someone actually in consulting and the horizontal group where M&A resides. First, consulting has been a small part of Cog till the last few years. The company reorg'ed the practice to be in line with what companies like Infosys and Accenture did long ago. You'd be entering an early stage practice but one that has immense opportunities to develop. Second, ignore EY1 and others unfounded opinion on exit opportunities. We've had people go T1/T2 all the time. They go FAANG as well. It's all about how you develop your skillset and network like at any firm. Third, you will deal with a diverse range of engagements and industries but due simply to the nature of our company it will always have a tech angle to it. It's the very reason clients engage us bc we can deliver strategic solutions and implement them. Fourth, M&A is a new stand alone practice. You'll have a chance for growth and learning, but also being a trail blazer in certain areas. If your goal is to be on the deal side though you need to join a PE or MBB bc the reality is even with big4 or T1. The deals are often done by the time they reach out and it's simply DD or IM/SM work.
If you'd like to hear more DM and I'd be happy to help you make a more informed decision that best fits your career ambitions.
I work in M&A. Any specific questions?
They recently did this reorg so the m&a group is new I.e., there is some maturing that needs to happen. If you’re interested in growing the practice, I would ask into what your day to day will look like and what types of clients you will be working with.
I personally do not have the gumption to develop methodologies and create approaches from scratch without acclaim. I feel like a manager or director position would give you better chance to make an impact, but the senior consultant role is still staff in cognizants eyes.
I wouldn’t recommend. That firm is still a technical outsourcing model firm. There is really bad WLB, letting unutilized people go quickly model,
Also, B4 and other tier 1/2 companies won’t consider this company a great experience. If it was you and someone else with B4 experience in future, someone else will get the offer.
