Commute aside, what's the worst part about working in the office?

Distractions.

Sure, there’s a level of collaboration the occurs organically in an office setting, but I find my attention is pulled in more directions in the office, both related to the work and socially.

I will say, I think I was happier in the office before the pandemic because of the social element and the benchmark for productivity was lower to allow for that.

like

Definitely agree. On one hand, while working remote I miss the social interactions. But I’ve found I search for them elsewhere when remote, like in book clubs or make more of an effort with friends and family and doing things on the week days. I went into office last week, and got nothing done all day that I was there due to distractions.. maybe 1-2 days in office is good, but definitely not a 4 day mandate.

WFH is just less stressful. No dress code. No social skills needed. No fire drills. No worries about weather or traffic. No noises. No co-workers stopping by to say hello and distract me. No time limits in the day. No small talk. It’s kind of like heaven. And you get paid to do it.

It truly is heaven. So many distractions in office

Oh, that's easy! The people! Before I start to sound too misanthropic, I do genuinely enjoy some of the camaraderie of being in an office. And I missed it when I was working remotely. But I've been fighting off a cold all winter and I'm sure it's from having to be around people all day, on public transportation and then in the office. The one part of the pandemic I wish could be made permanent was all the social distancing. Remember those footprint stickers telling people how to stand six feet apart? Miss those!

like

100%! I can never get anything done in office. Way too many distractions and way too many people. I genuinely miss those 6 feet apart stickers lol people have no spatial awareness. I especially miss them in grocery stores

The fluorescent lights. I do not need to see everyone’s pores. They do not need to see mine.

like

Haha! This is so true. I hate those damn lights.

When you don’t have as much work to do and you’re staring at a screen bored senseless knowing If you were WFH you could be watching TV and napping.

💯💯

I love being in the office

-Not being able to control the temperature.
-Being stuck with microwaveable or expensive lunch options.
-Having to use public toilets with little privacy.
- Wearing uncomfortable work clothes and shoes all day.
-Spending money on gas, tolls, parking just to work
-Open workspaces (loud, distracting, spread germs)
-Talking on Teams/Zoom with people in same office as you

Any advice for trying to plan a wedding with families on different coasts?? (Neither of our grandparents can travel)

Hi this isn't completelyy on topic but wondering if anyone here has recommendations for how much you're supposed to spend on a friend's wedding registry? It was a multi-day indian wedding with 3 events and I had a plus one. Any recommendations would be so helpful 🙈

I am currently building a wedding website with Joy.com and the registry options for a “no fee cash fund” are Paypal and Venmo. Would you find it weird to make a wedding gift via Venmo?

I am looking for workday integration role outside India. I have overall 8 plus years experience in consulting(previously PeopleSoft) and 3 plus years experience in workday integration. Hoping for some guidance here. Thank you in advance.
