What is the average salary of a Senior 1?
I recently got a verbal offer from KPMG strategy. Is that more prestigious than like, most other firms? Like, I know MBB is done with recruiting; I feel like below MBB for name recognition is the Big 4 and other firms aren’t as reputable. I’m trying to decide whether or not I should interview and apply to other firms or just take this one (assuming a written offer ever comes along). Also, I prioritize work culture and exit opportunities over salary, but don’t want to be paid below poverty line.

Yes- Do you use the screentime app on Apple? You can approve limits and shut down times. My son (5th grade) is completely addicted to screens and even if he’s grounded and we put his screens in our bedroom, he will sneak into our bedroom at night, get the hidden ipad/switch/computer and go into his room to watch Netflix/twitch/YouTube/play Fortnite all night long. It is honestly scary how big of a pull it is.
Exactly! Good point about the screen time app. I should turn that on. It is scary how addicted they can become. I myself am addicted and my excuse is that it’s to get work done but still. I’d prefer for my daughter (only kindergarten at this point) to grow up first without being attached to a screen. I believe it can limit the way they think to only what is possible through the screen.
My oldest just started kinder and I’ve been surprised how much they use screens AT SCHOOL. There’s a shelf of iPads in the classroom and they use apps for reading (Lexia), math (dreambox), letters (letter school), etc. Maybe it’s just the changes of times but seems odd to me to have so much in class screen time at such a young age. And it definitely makes me double think/feel guilty letting him have more screen time at home (which also pisses me off honestly, because sometimes screen time is a savior if I have to get something out or have a conference call or something comes up during the weekend). But the teacher has explicitly said she wants them to do at least 45 min of the reading app outside class.
We TRY to leave the tv off most of the time, and only give a tablet/phone when we are traveling to save other people on the plane from the wrath of a bored toddler. But sometimes its easier to just cuddle on the couch playing a learning game or watching pbs kids, and I don't worry about it since we get to do it together.
Except today I had to use pbs kids to keep my toddler entertained while I tried to clean out a room of our house that basically become a storage unit 🙃. I tried to make it better by taking breaks from cleaning to play games. Its not always perfect, but I'm on my own this weekend while husband is traveling so I'll use what I can to get some desperately needed cleaning done!
I was worried about screen time before I was a mom. Now I'm like, "meet your new mothe, the iPad."
😂
Not all screen time is bad. If they are playing games that require thought, then that's better than watching kids open toys on YouTube. Also if you are worried, then just set next to them while you are working and just ask them questions about what they are looking at on thier tablet.
Same!!
I am super strict about it. My husband is not. I guess we balance out.
Very strict. My kids get about an hour of total screen time (on average) per day.
Worry about screen time if it takes the place of reading time. If you and your child can balance so the reading doesn’t take a hit, then it’s less of a concern. Reading skill (and interest) is truly the super power.
But surely it all takes the place of reading time (or making stuff out of Duplo time or pretending time etc)... I don’t understand what the benefits of screentime really are until, like, 10yo+?
Kid about to turn 4; has had <40 hours cumulative screentime in his life. I’m OK with that.
