I went. Needed a PCR to board the plane. Nobody in Heathrow ever checked. I was able to get one at the airport before leaving.
Final destination didn’t matter, btw.
Depends on where you are going. Look up there requirements for travel from Heathrow. Good luck trying to find a straight answer. I’m going to IST and their govt website says you good if vaccinated and can show proof but the us turkey embassy page says you need PCR. AA said to look at Sherpa and i can’t figure it out from there because it looks like it’s saying both are acceptable
Even if transferring you still go through immigration to get from the arrivals to the departures side of the terminal. You don’t go through customs control but you still go through passport control. I don’t know where they check for test status though. Check their site:

Yes that was my experience. Heathrow is a shitshow right now but absolutely 100% need a PCR test or you can’t bore your plane
