Use video calls as much as possible, especially for 1:1s, if you're managing people, phone is too impersonal. Make arrangements to travel back to the office at a regular rate (I did once a quarter) and fill your time with meetings you know will be beneficial to have in person. If you're the only one remote, make sure someone always remembers to dial you in. "Out of sight, out of mind" is a real thing when it's not an entirely remote team. Negotiate expensing your phone and internet. Otherwise, working remotely is awesome. I really miss it.

1. It can get lonely
2. You have to work extra hard to remind people that you’re there
3. You’ll shower less
Make sure everyone knows your closing hours... just because you WFH doesn’t mean you’re available 24 hours.
Watch out for those comfy pajama pants. They get you when you least expect it.
Omg take it!!!!!! So rare to find that!!!!
@ADir1 Thank you! This is helpful! I’ll likely be in the office monthly. A little wary of the toll that travel might take.
Working from home is a lonely place. It takes longer to get things done because of the extra documented communication and back and forth needed that just goes a lot quicker being next to people. Not having to get dressed is nice and being able to prepare meals or do laundry at lunch is nice.

@AD1 Stick to yoga pants. Got it.
@CW2 I’m definitely leaning that way. I just know there are a lot of known challenges with work-from-home arrangements, and this would essentially be work-from-home on crack. I want to be prepared for those realities so the in-office team feels supported and our work is still kickass.
Where did you find a position like this? The dream!
