Considering leaving EY for a 300 FTE consulting firm, mainly govt sector, for a strategic talent role (non-client facing). Current Manager in a long-term product management role. Offer is 30% increase, director title, and fully remote. Concerned about jumping to a company I had never heard of prior to LinkedIn connection. Thoughts? 30% too low for this type of jump?

Sounds like HR, which is a noticeable shift from product management. Do you want to switch to HR? If so, take it. If not, don't. The role shift may raise questions depending on what your future career plans may be.

Yes that would be my ideal exit. Competition for those jobs has been tough. If it wasn’t for 30% increase and higher title I wouldn’t be interested in the role.

I’d take it. I work at a boutique which is a leader in its space but only has a couple hundred employees worldwide. Pay is much higher than big 4, people much happier - can tell by low turnover. It sounds like the role may round out your story a bit. If your goal is more gen management or functional lead, rather than consulting partner, this helps IMO. And even if your goal is consulting partner, will help with leadership positions within the firm since you understand other dynamics of the business.

Take it. You already have EY brand if you need to bounce back or somewhere else.

i just had an excellent review with my supervisors. we are aligned i am ready to be promoted. i will be moving from project manager to senior project manager. the catch; my company has laid off 75% of its staff, and cut our salaries by 25%. timing is unclear, since we work in the live entertainment space. what is fair to ask for? i have 7 years work force experience, am the only one in my position, touch every creative deliverable the agency makes, and updated and streamlined 10+ processes.

I confess that this interaction I had @ a recent camping trip w/ my husband, son, two dogs was VERY confusing: I was doing a training session w/my dogs when an older white man stopped what he was doing to watch us. We trained for ~15 minutes. At the end of the training session, the man asks loudly “WHO trained your dogs?” At first I couldn’t process what he asked. I froze. He repeated the question. I curtsied dramatically & smiled. Unconscious race/gender bias? How would you respond?

I started working in a agency two months ago, and I have two very big projects running simultaneously. My Creative Director left for paternity leave, and left me with all the work, facing the client, going to shootings, editing. I've been working 15 days straight, no weekends. The agency hasn't given me any back up/someone I can team up with to do the job. Is this normal? I'm used to have a partner, a copywriter or another creative working alongside. Keep in mind that I'm mid-level.
