I’ve been trying to get into the top tier Associate Product Marketing Manager position Google for some time now for just an interview and I feel like business majors somehow have such a stronger chance in getting interviewed especially my business school and I feel really discouraged as an Econ Major and I have a lot of marketing experience that I’ve built over the years. Are there any non-business majors in the tech realm in non technical positions at Google that can advise me?

Hi fishers! I have offer and signed contract with Deloitte UK and my start day is in the beginning of April. I need skilled worker visa, and we haven’t applied yet for that. Screening and onboarding is in progress. Immigration team doesn’t reply since reached me out 1st time. How much time does it usually needed to go through the whole process? How many days take for visa to be approved since application?Deloitte
Bain & Company Bain & Company Do you have any insights into what they are expecting in the second (last) round? I saw that there are two cases and a presentation. Are they more interested in professionalism than the "analytical" skills assessed in the first round? Do you have any more insights into the presentation?
Many thanks in advance

I mean.. the UK is >80% white so it’s not too unexpected. OC&C is more akin to strategy consulting and pays more afaik.
I would say - follow your gut if you feel like it wasn’t a good fit with Baringa. Best of luck!
They are supply chain operations consultants primarily. Supply chain functions in major corporates are led by white people. Indians don’t tend go into supply chain as a career because their parents will be disappointed in them. White people buy from white people. That is just the way it is.
I would definitely say OC&C is much more ‘prestigious’ and would give better exit opps and pay better. Again depends what kind of work you do/want to do though
Just for the grad roles, AC at OC&C vs Analyst at Baringa, I think there is a c.20k gap in TC in y1.
If you have an offer from both, most people I know would pick OC&C
What type of consulting were you in before? And which level are you joining as?
Can’t speak for Baringa, but if you are joining any level above AC as experience hire and coming from a non-pure-strat/cdd background, you are going to struggle at OC&C.
They bring out the diversity interviewers during hiring process (as do most firms), whereas internal culture in reality is very upper middle class British (incl. British Asians but only if they went to public schools lol).
But otherwise, OC&C is definitely more prestigious (as a pure strat house) and should be higher pay.
Tech consulting. OC&C role is also in Analytics
OC&C also has a reputation (very Oxbridge, very middle class, bad with lateral hires) but it is a byproduct of them being strategy specialists. Are you one of them?
Baringa seems to be doing B4 work with a posher package.
OC&C analytics staff is considered (and paid) on par with generalists. Very new function so appraisal processes for analytics staff is still in process of being finalised but they are decidedly front office
OC&C is tier 2, Baringa is more like big 4.
lol ok, I would put them in with Oliver Wyman / LEK and those are solid tier 2 firms
M1 are you British Asian? I’ve seen some of my British Asian friends work / do well at OC&C so what you’re saying is new information;
Not sure if it’s different if you’re not British / have a cultural barrier though etc.
Indian
Not sure how you don’t know this and could interview with both, but OC&C definitely does more strategy work than Baringa would ever do and are vastly different in types of work they sell
Rising Star
Token old fart industry exec here. I have never heard of OC&C before this bowl. Baringa I’ve known for years as a jack average mid sized implementation shop. Some of my friends love Baringa but I’ve never used them personally.
OC&C isn't in a very niche area in the UK, they just do strategy work which is very different from the type of work you are currently in (also means that there's likely a larger learning curve for you at OC&C if that is a differentiator for you)
I was at MBB and interviewed at OC & C as well but really struggled with their culture … very cliquey, very white upper middle class British, very Oxbridge. Think Baringa actually has more of a mix (but OC&C is the more “prestigious” firm).
To be fair this sounds like all strategy firms
Not Asian but I did join OC&C as a Manager and have stuck around. Happy to chat if useful to you.
