EYOP - I am a partner too; giving our people their rating and comp is a really important job. Appreciate they are busy but they fell down on this one. I always make the time to make these conversations happen. Go speak to the people team ASAP if you can't speak to your counselor/partner today.
Reach out to someone other than your counselor. This isn't acceptable.
EYOP this has happened to me as well. Both my raise and PBB were communicated by email from the head of our department. Discussion with counselor was simply your rating has been unlocked. HR then switched my counselor unbeknownst to me (found out this week) - still no discussion. Found out my raise yesterday by email - no comp discussion. I'm finding EY often drops the ball on these things.
No that is not how we fire people. It is however a Serious failure on behalf of your counselor. You should have gotten comp email yesterday but may be delayed till today. PBB is supposed to be in your paycheck today. Go to your people team person today and ask.
Do you feel like you should be fired?
I am an Senior 2 (suppose to be going to Senior 3), I am familiar with how things are suppose to work but I agree this is unacceptable communication. Its my career and I feel like I'm being treated like wasted inventory right now.....I'm most likely getting rated a 2, and put on a PIP, but people need to have respect for others future not just the future of the firm
Very unfortunate. Get your resume in good shape ASAP, regardless of what's said by your counselor.
Yeah I would get your resume in good shape. And be prepared for the worst case scenario( getting fired). Had the same thing happened to me at PwC as a staff 2. I took a few months off
@EY 1 - No I don't feel I should be fired, my counselor is a partner and rarely around so I respect that and know that time can be hard to coordinate, but I feel there is a great lack of effort to let me know what's going on behind closed doors.
@EY 3, I may be able to talk to my counselor today for better understanding, but I also may contact HR. I didn't really think I was getting fired, but if I'm rated a 2 I thought someone would have the decency to tell me that back in April/May right?
If you log into mds do you see a rating? Maybe your counselor quit and nobody told you.
OP - give an update when you receive one.
It is annoying that they are making you wait until next Thursday. Keep us posted. Good luck!
@EY 7 I am sorry to hear that you are going through a similar experience. I don't think counselors should be switched unless requested or if they leave the firm, but sounds to me like we both have pretty bad counselors at this point. I know plenty of upper management within the firm that actually care and invest time in their counselee, its unfirtunate that there are still the few out there that only care about themselves though
If you don't mind me asking how much does a senior 2 makes at EY?
EYOP - your salary will be a reflection of your degree, your ratings and your location. So, if you are straight out of undergrad (not a JD or a JD LLM) and in a small city then I would say a Senior 2 is likely between $55-70K.
Call your HR person and ask. Maybe you're on borrowed time even now
My counselor is in the office today and I am not, I pinged and asked to chat on the phone, but they insisted we talk in person next week THURSDAY.....
@EY 8 thanks for the advice, I keep hearing this is common way the firm treats things like this smh I'm getting my ducks in a row and mentally preparing for the outcome as well as getting my resume out
@Deloitte 1 I'm pretty sure I'm low-balled since I'm not in a major city, it also depends on service line but for tax I would assume Senior 2s salary broad range is between $65K and $75K
