Getting started with Sam Harris’s app + book right now and it’s really freakin hard
Buy the audiobook « Waking up » from Sam Harris. It does cover most buddhist teachings and helps to bring spiritual practice into context
Not quite, but meditation to fall asleep. I can’t sleep without meditating, too many thoughts and just bad vibes
Yes almost daily. Highly recommend "Mindfulness in plain English" book for starters. If you're curious about what it's all about.
Helps you tether yourself to the present.
The 10% Happier app is good, they are having a free new years challenge right now. Dan Harris has written a few books too. I like this series bc it's not hippy dippy shamany stuff
It’s helped a ton with my temper; I still have it but I’m better able to manage and release my anger when it flares up. It’s also been life changing for my anxiety and depression. I personally love Calm, but I know there’s a ton of great options out there!
Yes, Absolutely! For me the real value comes from the underlying spiritual principles (mainly Zen Buddhism). The insight that I get from these about impermanence of things, letting go, that I am enough, and about suffering of beings and the freedom from suffering has been transformational - not only to cope with the insane mckinsey lifestyle, but in life in general. I invite you to approach it as a life journey with open mind, and you will surely reap the benefits
Yes! I paid for the full 10% Happier app subscription and am doing the January meditation challenge. Can’t say enough good things about Dan Harris’ approach.
Read this as “medication” and wanted to know where to find some
Yes, but you have to do every day for a while. It’s like any exercise. It’s changing the brain slightly over time. So, you’ll need to stick with it to see true results
Yes. My anxiety is gone and it’s been life changing. I did the Ziva Online 15 days training, and now I’ve been meditating 15 minutes 2 times a day for 1.5 years. It’s a mantra based meditation style that is very easy, and includes mindfulness and manifesting . Google it to learn more.

Meditation takes practise. If you have enough patience you can get tremendous benefits from it. It takes years but it’s worth it especially if you have anxiety and hectic lifestyle
Meditation alone, no. Meditation along with coaching yes.
Yes - I do a 5 or 10 min meditation sometimes during the day when it is stressful. You can find some really good ones on YouTube. It helps A LOT.
Helped me immensely when I started. I’m kind of in a trough now in terms of my focus while meditating, but Andy always says all meditation is good, so I’m keeping at it.
Me!!
Glad to hear you're using Sam! You're right, it is pretty hard. But, think about it. 10 minutes a day is nothing. A combination a meditation and exercise has helped me like crazy during the pandemic. Yoga too but I do like 10 min stretches, no hard workout stuff.
I first read this at “medication” and thought that should be a few people here
I've gotten into meditation over the past couple weeks! I like it so far and am already starting to see a difference. Does anyone have any other good book recs about mindfulness or the spiritual principles of mediation?
