What was the “feedback” they gave
If it was an insult, likely reflects on them not you.
Need more specifics on the feedback
I would be inquisitive with this one. You may think it’s an insult and they may think they’ve given you the best constructive criticism ever. If I suspect it’s something less than kind I will ask them to please elaborate. There’s nothing to address w your colleague unless it is apparent that they are being respectful and even then we won’t get along w everyone.
When you say address it, do you mean pull them up about it? It may be that they didn’t consider what they said an insult, so I think the best thing is to clarify what they mean, then if it is an insult, reach out to someone whose mutually known (ideally respected by both) and ask for their PoV on the feedback 1-2-1.
If it is an insult (and they’re a good team member / manager) they’ll likely want to help, and they can coach your coworker on giving feedback.
I’d just make sure you have your ducks in a row before pulling them up about it, as it’ll open a can of worms if you’re slacking and that’s the reason for blunt feedback.
How exactly would you address it?
