The mind game of “do it faster, even though you’re already going as fast as you can”. When I went to Parris Island, I felt constantly confused or mentally exhausted until phase 3. I served with the Marines first for 12 yrs. Looking back I learned though it taught me how to not let my emotions run wild or others’ actions control me.
The physical demand, even if you think you are prepared, these boot camps always try to push you to the limit and they usually succeed.
In addition to the physical demand, I found the mental demand was also very high, but at the same time, it was very good, because your body can't take it anymore but your mind wants to achieve it, that motivation makes you even stronger.
Learning patience. Prior to to Army BCT I was pretty impatient. Once in BCT I learned you are onlynas strong as your weekest link. Helping my battle buddies understand what we were doing and why we were doing helped me. In the end I learned to be patient because not everyone learns or understands things at the same pace as you. Patience is a virtue.
