Depends on where you are in your career and what your career goals are. Is it a tax analyst role / do you want to stay in tax? If so, I would recommend not leaving the Big 4 until you’re a manager or an experienced senior at the least. It’s a lot easier to gain technical knowledge in the Big 4 than it is in industry. It’s also generally easier to get promoted in the Big 4 than it is in industry, which means staying in public might give you a leg up in landing a higher role by making a lateral jump versus getting promoted while in industry.
The hours and work-life balance of public definitely suck, so I view it as a balancing act. I suggest putting up with the bullshit as long as you can in public before making the switch if career progression is one of your top priorities.
No one can answer this but you. It depends what you want out of life - quality of life now or sacrifice some more for higher quality or financial security later.
