Pay here is trash - I would recommend getting outside experience and returning if you don’t like it. (4.5 yoe at fid, TC around 150k).

To be fair FC1 has a point - these jobs are very quantitative based. Usually have candidates from top schools, CFAs, etc.

Don’t get too comfortable. After 2 years you can get more $$ elsewhere. Also, you can try asking mgmt when you can get promoted so you can get a pay increase and be in a higher bonus pool. If they give you excuses after two years time to move on. That’s my advice.
Good Luck!

Anyone else super unimpressed with administrative support with a new firm after lateraling? I told a partner I’d just take care of a routine task myself. He told me my rate is too high and to use a “project manager” (basically an intern they can pay less than a paralegal). We have a 40 person group and 3 project managers making starvation wages. Big firm. You’d know the name.

Have you ever taken a career slow down? I am feeling burnt out from COVID and the incremental responsibilities thrown my way over the last 5+ years. I feel like my health has deteriorated. I like my company, but I want to do less. I don’t need to be a HR Director, CHRO, etc. With a career slowdown, I am prepared for a lower compensation and would want decent benefits. Any lessons learned or success stories about career slowdowns?
