Thoughts on convincing gf to stay? 27M dating 28F for ~1.5 years. We knew each other in HS and reconnected during the pandemic. Everything was so connected, compatible and hot, and we planned a life together. We thought we met the loves of our lives. We moved to NYC in January. Lost intimacy and connection. She’s unwilling to work on things. Such a genuinely talented and beautiful woman, but has trust issues and depression from being overworked. Thoughts on convincing vs surrendering / leaving?

My natural instinct is to assume rejection if I have conflict with a partner or don’t think my feelings are reciprocated. I’ll try to bring it up with them, but I’ll say “if you want to end this feel free” so it doesn’t hurt me (and they can say what they really mean instead of sugarcoating). Someone told me today that they just assume I’m not interested because I always seem to “run” but I’m not sure how to bring up problems/feelings otherwise. How do you approach these hard questions?

Genuine question - why do people slide into DMs on here? Why would you spend time trying to get to know someone when there’s like a 1% chance you’re in the same geographical area and would have mutual interest in each other? One of the reasons I want to transition from industry to consulting (tier 1) is that I get frustrated when I have to collaborate with mediocre people. My assumption is that Tier 1 consulting firms hire really sharp people and if I can get in, I’ll be collaborating with folks on top of their game (not expecting much from clients). I’m aware there are personal aspects I need to work on like my mindset, patience etc etc, but I just get so frustrated with blatant stupidity.

We have sales people in Canada and the US, the Canadians make 150K CAD and down here it’s 150K USD, the Canadians argue they should be making 30% more than the US colleagues to be equal bc of the exchange! I explain the salary is dependent on the market data for them in Canada, WHERE THEY LIVE, and you can’t compare it to the US employees and the market data down here. Overall they are both in the 75th% for total comp. for their industry. Am I wrong?
