Theyâll offer more if you say unfortunately I have to
decline. If they donât come up, at least you wonât be miserable. This is the time to have the upper hand
What market OP? HCOL or not?
Move on, you made the right decision!
Pro
why would you even consider taking the offer? sounds like youâre better off at your current company. tell them you already make more than that and you canât leave for less. also have them at least try make you whole on the $8k loss with a signing bonus.
If they know your comp and they donât move and you donât need a job then decline it.
The recruiter is trying to see what they can get away with. If they're not giving you a genuine offer then decline firmly until they do.
Are you sure you can trust Deloitte? They have had a lot of layoffs in the last few years. The grass isnât always greener. I always read about them laying off people on here the most.
No way, do NOT take this offer.
I came from a Deloitte competitor to Deloitte, at the top of my salary band. They matched my salary and I turned it down. Few days later I got the 10% bump I was looking for (lateral move).
Summary: say no and move on!
Donât do it. Donât movie without a bump.
Iâve noticed Deloitte lowball people lately and try to sell you on the name. It doesnât mean much if youâre going to be working more and you take pay cut. Unless the role is something you really want to do then itâs worth considering.
Facts!!!
Which company are you currently working at?
Imo if the brand name is a step up, 3K base (and the rest of the perks) are a fraction of what you could be making over a lifetime.
Why do yal hate Deloitte so much?
I got lowballed badly when I joined, left as soon as I got a better offer. Speaking for myself, the juice isnât worth the squeeze.
Thank you everyone! Going to turn the offer down. Appreciate all the feedback.
Literally the same exact situation upon offer/hire when moving to Deloitte. Took a pay cut for the better name/chance at career advancement. 100k, and when I pushed back, they threw in 5 signing bonus to compensate for the salary cut. Pushed back again and they couldnât possibly do better. Yes, I took the offer but I now have learned this is a typical thing they do to experienced hires. If I could go back, I wouldnât have taken it. Itâs going to take a ton of time to get any lateral movement or actually recoup the money Iâm losing/have lost. Iâm filling really menial tasks and thereâs no room for advancing any time soon. Everyone is great to work with but itâs all smoke and mirrors when it comes to actual movement with your career.
To answer some questions:
-I work at IBM (not GREAT but not a no name company)
-There is job security in the contract Iâd be working on (it is a long Federal contract)
-They gave me until Monday to respond (offer was given today)
You really dodged a bullet. It's not worth it. Wait it out and I'm sure you'll get something more interesting and worthwhile.
Donât do it
Listen to everyone on this thread, donât take it!
Stuck fulfilling my obligation with the signing bonus then jumping ship. I canât tell you how many people have told me âman they are making a KILLING off of you...â and this was coming from recruiters at other companies and elsewhere I wonât disclose.
They are trying to bring me in as a Consultant (I have 2 1/2 YOE). Problem is with my network I could probably promote to Managing Consultant at IBM after 1-1/2 more years making ~130k. I donât see any pros to the lateral offer other than the name brand/not feeling great about my current project.
@OP the brand name isnât any better, marginally if ur in Deloitte strategy. Just try to network into strategy & iX
For Deloitte? I would respectfully decline.
What level are they bringing you in at?
