As an intern, you’d probably be stuck as PMO. This isn’t bad because you could sit in on the talent, comp, and benefits meetings—giving you a lot of exposure.
Not to say you should do consulting forever, but at the junior level, consulting pays much better than HR.
HC isn’t the sexiest consulting gig, but it definitely beats other tech-type consulting.
Probably should mention that I would only like to stay in consulting for a few years (like a lot of people I’m sure) then move into industry and hr type roles.
The technology implementation group sits in a different sub group ( HR transformation) than the sub group ( workforce transformation )that does comp, benefits, talent strategy. I don’t think it’s easy to get staffed in a different sub group. That being said, I have the impression that the technology implementation group is more profitable and probably easier to hit the sales goals as you progress in the firm
You need to think about what you want to do long term. It isn’t easy to transfer out of Human Capital consulting the longer to stay in it, is this what you want long term?
