The definition is “fellow Christians or members of a male religious order” so I can see why they’d think that

Common usage?
I don’t think there’s any common usage for brethren. Who uses that?
Are you kidding me? I would have laughed uncontrollably. It's a great word!

PwC, I love the mute button for these times.
Using the full breadth of English isn't permitted anymore. You have to stick to whatever is permitted by the corporate Newspeak manual.

Lol yes because “bretheren” is what makes the work place intolerable…that’s a good one 🤣
It’s a pretty weird term. What’s so wrong with saying “everyone” or “folks”.
It’s not the right context for “folks” or “everyone”. I should have said “our colleagues from other practices” instead.

Whoa! People are getting waaaaay too sensitive these days.
But irregardless, kinda a strange way to refer to people at work…???

Lol. Poke the bear. I’m so blind on this app without my reading glasses.
Meh, I am female I think that's a stretch...I wouldn't have thought twice about it. I did see colleagues from another practice be referred to as our "brothers and sisters" in consulting. I was offended by the cheesiness and gave it an off-camera eye role but that's about it 😅

Does “take your feet off our necks” apply to the people we’re language-policing constantly?
I’m a raging feminist and even I think that’s ridiculous 🙄
I’ll just leave this here…

+1 on not being able to use the full breadth of the English language.
