This thread is hilarious, why are these BCGand accenture jokers discussing who deloitte hires? OP- Accentures BIGGEST play in tech is the massive offshore teams it has. About why H1Bs are hired in deloitte, several of us unlike you ppt toting bser, actually have “specialized skills” and solid academic backgrounds,I was hired from an top 10 MBA. When i was hiring last year, most of our job openings in my market offering in tech went unfulfilled with no citizens qualifying. Also, tech which is where most H1Bs are hired, is Deloittes biggest moneyspinner unlike strategy where it isnt even close to MBB. Deloitte’s SAP practice was worth 3 B last year, so the short answer to your questions- they need the cash cow. So before you mouth of your xenophobic garbage, know that when the jobs go, they will come for you as well, remember cost is not the same as value
Idk you should ask them. Just what I’ve heard at my many diners out with various of them so not an accusation big guy.My guess is faking to get on a project because everyone wants to be on cloud projects.
Ekdum tatti post hai ye
Because the only way Deloitte could “attract talent” was to “buy talent” via H1B. Pretty simple
And D26 is living in a bubble.
When your OP leader sends “ happy Diwali” message to the US practice, but not “happy Memorial Day”... just saying
Valentine’s Day would be ok too. Why do I give a F about Diwali? Why not Bastille Day?
Wow you are suggesting that we fire foreigners instead of low performers because they are American????

So US wants open orders for trade but when people come to US as part of the reciprocal nature of trade, people like OP has issues. US economy is turning more and more into a service economy, so learn to live with H1Bs.
OP - Dont follow your life based on Art of the Deal. One way street is oppression, two way street is how real business gets done.
Cause Americans can’t get the job done.
Don’t be dumb OP - you need the best people for the business. Not people who can’t even comprehend data and diction like 👀 . Unfortunately for you, h1b people who come here, take a lower pay do a better job than you, and are generally smarter too. Note - I said generally - DF belong to all races. IMHO.
America was created by smart ruthless savages who murdered native Americans, robbed them, enslaved blacks. So why do you think you deserve anything else? Fair game according to your own history you’re so proud of. I’m not suggesting it but, you’re okay with that so far. So why sudden change of heart.
May the best wo /men win???
Solid
My perspective is that most of the 5% (over half) are genuine low performers who would normally be separated / put on a low performer status / counseled out over a period of time - but economic conditions are such that they need to be separated now. That is across all staff including citizens/permanent residents/visa holders (those impacted by performance)
Some additional percentage are people in areas where work has dropped off considerably and people can’t be deployed with the skills they have (those impacted by pipeline)
Immigration based hiring will also be reduced (significant reductions in the pace of that had already occurred)

HS1. Broaden your mindset. Why can't existing H1B folks be part of my tribe? But maybe we could just manage the incoming count a little? Make sure we feed our existing people before having more walk in?
As a part of the people who were laid off, do know that I was on H1b too!
Also, consider this, if one of us get laid off, we have 60 days to get a job and file new paperwork to live in US whereas someone in US can just collect unemployment and get another job eventually.
You see how people get impacted differently? People have had to uproot their family and go to india after investing so much to come here and putting up with so much!
Product Manager 1 - That is correct. I am all for giving visas to those who go to school here or those who genuinely bring hard to find skills. I am not OK with the TCS and Wipros of the world coming down here and replacing workers in routine jobs. This happened at Disney too. Disney asked their workers to train their replacements and held their severance and benefits hostage. Before anyone calls me out on this. I am an Indian.
Toxic thread. Am out. These are the same people who won't watch out for non white americans. Easy to say jobs for americans but not easy to keep bias out.
Also H1bs have contributed a lot to your social security too. Don't discount any of that.

Ah, there it is. The racism card. H1B can be white too, there are lots of folks from Europe that fall in that bucket.
No one said non-white. Open your mindset first.
I don't understand how people strongly support free market economics and capatalism and oppose the H1B program. You can't have your cake and eat it too.
Agreed, P1!
Consultants trying to advocate for protectionism are a bunch of hypocrites!
You and I both have no basis for an assumption on the layoffs.
I read pretty well, thanks.

Corporate America will do something only when it makes sense financially. Everyone who thinks h1bs are more expensive haven’t been in a position where company financials and hirings are discussed. There is a reason why Deloitte has so many people on visas and yes skill has a very very important role to play but cost is a factor too (you need to account for the fact that visa+GC hopes lead to lower attrition) .
If OP was an immigrant, I am not sure no one would file for a specialized skill visa for him
No wise leader who cares about their business would rank a mediocre or low performing employee above a high performing individual on the bases of visa status. Some of the most highly skilled and insanely dedicated individuals I’ve worked with are on visas. That level of dedication possibly because they have less flexibility with changing employers but it was insane dedication nonetheless. We need performance
It was a good question, thanks for asking. Lots of perspectives.

Are you salty because Deloitte didn’t make you an offer and you see all these “non Americans” get the job? Deloitte has no incentive to hire h1b except they are good. Demand for tech talent is exceptionally high both in US and abroad. Go attend a campus recruiting, you’ll see how many kids attend the Deloitte tables as opposed to Accenture. Deloitte pays too dollars to these people, otherwise competitors would steal them day/ night

I’m sure it will factor in...
Sure? I worry greatly about your thought process.
A question for OP now, did you get your answers? Or you still think your concerns for Deloitte employees are valid?
There's an answer here, in this post, in this discussion. If this is too complex to process (its understandable) ... happy to re explain.

Good point, Accenture OP
Whats so good about it?
Punit Ranjan, Satya Nadella, Sundar Pichai.. a few names who were on H1b at some point in their lives. Clearly they got paid lower!
