Hello guys,
Today I had salary negotiation with Capgemini , they are offering 15 lpa with 10% variable. I feel this is a bit low based on current market standards. I asked for 20 initially, but they are not willing to go beyond 15 without any counter offer. HR flat out rejected 20 saying business will not approve. what is the max they will give after providing counter offer? And if i join around November, when will i be eligible for next appraisal? They are offering c1 band.

This thread is hilarious, why are these BCGand accenture jokers discussing who deloitte hires? OP- Accentures BIGGEST play in tech is the massive offshore teams it has. About why H1Bs are hired in deloitte, several of us unlike you ppt toting bser, actually have “specialized skills” and solid academic backgrounds,I was hired from an top 10 MBA. When i was hiring last year, most of our job openings in my market offering in tech went unfulfilled with no citizens qualifying. Also, tech which is where most H1Bs are hired, is Deloittes biggest moneyspinner unlike strategy where it isnt even close to MBB. Deloitte’s SAP practice was worth 3 B last year, so the short answer to your questions- they need the cash cow. So before you mouth of your xenophobic garbage, know that when the jobs go, they will come for you as well, remember cost is not the same as value
Idk you should ask them. Just what I’ve heard at my many diners out with various of them so not an accusation big guy.My guess is faking to get on a project because everyone wants to be on cloud projects.
Because they did the math. They pay H1B lower salaries across the board for the same level of work.
you and OP should be best friends.
Again reiterating what I said - plan a move to Canada, DM me if u want tips, lawyers, references . More than happy to help u come to a place where u are appreciated by everyone
Now Accenture will advise deloitte on who to hire and how to run the business🤣
Clearly much needed. 🥳
Rumors has it that the H1B are the main body of layoffs. So far all the layoffs that I know of at D, are non-white (awkward qns to ask about their status)
For all the ones who have a problem with firms hiring and working with H1B workers or non Citizens, or if you feel that your job security are endangered by us. As someone pointed out already, please go ahead and voice your “concerns” to HR and firm leadership. I think it will do both you, and us a favor.
PwC1 has the most reasonable answer
OP, try to be more competitive rather than thinking more about layoffs. By doing so you will automatically get answer to your question :)
Employability at D is mostly a factor of utilization and sales. I highly doubt anyone in good standing in those would get fired. Btw- I know a couple of H1b visa holders who got fired. It is a factor of outcome and not salary.
Healthy POV/ arguments are always good. Strong personal opinion devoid of facts should be avoided. We all are part of this.
Businesses are run with profit mindset and they do whatever is best.
For ex. We can manufacture all cars/ iPhones in US but we don’t. Cost is the biggest factor.
So think , have rational thoughts, have couple of drinks and get back tomorrow for a healthy debate.
What about people like me? I immigrated to the USA when I was a kid I’m already a citizen but I’m both an immigrant and a citizen! Hahaha
You are the bridge.
ah so there it is, the elephant in the room: Globalization > Nationalization. I hope this logic expressed by D1 doesn't signify movement that is NOT inclusive. Other than financial factors, would be good to know other factors that resulted in citizens being laid off (skills, high compensation & benefits packages for cost savings/avoidance, etc.)
OP: what’s your question? Is it why D hires H1 or is it whether why H1 is a non-immigrant program but somehow H1B folks qualify for immigration ? I mean I am confused. Opinions and lack of information is why we have a clown sitting in the office and dragging everyone through the mud.
The business strategy is clear - get better talent. If you can compete, you too shall survive. It is a (relatively) free market.
Why keep low performers just because they have a citizenship? This would directly impact future revenues and growth.

You are assuming that all Deloitte consultants perform at the same level or have the same skillset and do the same work.
The Business of Business is Business!
So if Person on visa got laid off .. in how many days they have to leave the Country ?
60 days for H1B can also in the meantime apply for a change of status to B to close up affairs, pack, etc .... you can’t earn on a B though so be careful
OP- you do realize right that even employees on visa will also get fired as part of the 2500? You can be on visa but still be a permanent employee.
First, no country can fill the talent gap US has .If there would be no requirement nobody will hire or bring people from India.
When we talk about cheap labor , yes it is a cheap labor but thats what is running US economy. Only managers and senior managers cannot run the firms . It is the hard work of labor always which make a company or a country successful.
So before commenting on h1b ask the leaders why do u have such visa program . Before even u ask leaders ask yourself do u know atleast 5 people who are jobless and do consulting .
A country where students are debt by system is raising question on visa program through whcih they make billions and billions.
I have a feeling it will be factored in if we’ll need to fire more people. For now, it’s performance, salary/cost, and utilization based firing..... but after Deloitte clean out all of those people.... I think next wave will factor in immigration status....immigration is costly, that’s all
Because that is not how it works. It should be merit based not based on privilege. Welcome to the world

I do understand people’s frustration over immigration if citizens with similar education are unemployed. But, US has always been a free market economy and business would do what is best for them. That’s why most immigration happened in US than any other place in the world. They have severely cut down immigration now and placed restrictions so that only few people could clear the system. Now, US is no more an attractive destination and there is too much unpredictability. People are moving out to other countries. So, OP and MSFT, things are already happening the way you guys want. But also remember that many studies have shown that net impact to US economy has been very high from immigration. Imagine if all Indians leave US today, it would be a big shock to US economy. While you feel that by firing H1 B workers, US citizens would be safer, they wouldn’t be because there are so many jobs created by immigrants every year.
Also, at least for Deloitte that I have experienced with, H1Bs are hired for certain skillsets. There is an apparent shortage of these skills in the US. Skills won’t just appear by “firing” someone.
