United has a better loyalty program, but Delta is a better airline.
If you spend a lot, United. Global Services is awesome. Skymiles are worthless.
But if you’re going to be a lower tier member, Delta Silver is miles better than MileagePlus silver.

United, but the loyalty program doesn't matter anyway. Every single United hub is in a city that matters and they're almost perfectly distributed across the country. Delta, you have to connect in useless places like ATL, MSP, SLC, DTW. No contest.

I’m not sure in what sense DL can be said to trail AA, and it has plenty of good things going for it, such as high operational reliability, a better hard product than UA and AA in nearly all cases/comparable scenarios, and substantially better customer service.
I used to be hub captive to United and still happily connected through DTW or ATL when necessary simply because I don’t hate myself.
I had the same question and appreciate all the responses thus far. Is American airlines loyalty worth while / better compared to these 2? I guess it also depends on where one is located.
Doesn't matter, you're stuck based on the airline hub in your city

OP if you’re NYC based and actually live in the city (other than Staten Island, maybe), there’s no reason for you ever to fly anyone other than Delta. JFK and LGA are both hubs, and your experience will always be vastly superior to what you get on AA/UA.
United? Wasn't it Omicron? I know that Omicron is less aggressive than Delta but it can lead to intensive therapy anyway.. hopefully future mutations will be less harmful so we can get back to normality
