Did anyone here taken "parent loans" i.e. from family members and you have to repay them back? Did they give you 0% interest?

Yes, actually. I was in an accident and couldn't afford to pay my hospital bills so my uncle offered to cover the cost and said that I could pay him back at my own pace with no interest. It's been 2 years and I'm still paying it back little by little but it's so nice to not have the looming threat of skyrocketing interest rates to deal with.

like

That’s very nice!

I have both borrowed and loaned to family and never was interest involved, that seems wrong for family.

That’s good. Yeah, I guess point is they could be making interest on it if it was invested somewhere.

I try my best not to borrow from family or friends because if something happens and I can't pay back when I said, it can get awkward but if I do it's not more than $200 and nope they don't charge me interest.

I wish my family had the funds to do a parent loan but sadly that was not an option for me so I am in massive student loan debt.

Advice & resources? My spouse and I are starting to make good money (ages 28 & 31, $105k & $70k) with $10k in savings (we were hit hard financially this year) and 2 car payments.

We live in a cheap apartment ($1.3k) that is sh*tty. Don’t quite have a down payment (especially not in ATX). Is it dumb to rent a house for a year at $3k/month while we save up again?

We both didn’t come from $ and are figuring out how to not be idiots 🙃 tbh we would prefer to rent forever but that feels dumb???

My fiancé and I (ages 30 and 31) are about to buy a house. We would put down 10% for a 835k purchase price. Our combined income is $265k. We both have around 7-10k left in emergency funds (each) and combined about 200k for retirement. Our mortgage is $4,500 a month and we split a car payment for $800. Is this an okay financial decision or should we have bought a cheaper house/saved more?

FL peoples: I signed a lease for a new place to start May 1 as my current landlord sold the unit I'm in. Turns out, the buyer wants to keep renting the unit and asked if I want to stay. Of course I want to stay. My new lease hasn't started so I'm pretty sure I can easily back out. For the new lease, I'm still pending full approval from a condo association as I have to do an in person interview. I have paid first months rent in advance. Is there anyway to get that money back?

I am 34 yo, i graduated with 95k in student loans, i currently have 85k left and i make 85k in come. I’m also a single mom with two kids. Just praying for 100% student loans forgiveness. I have applied for unemployment, as the severance that I received will only cover for 2 months. Together my husband and I used to make less than 250k after tax. Now, with a loss of pay , we are going to make less. Do you think I will be eligible for Loan forgiveness?
