"Former years" in sales? I've been in B2B for over 20 years and still going strong.
Nobody in B2B / B2G sales anywhere in the world has 100% of their prospects callback after the first call / VM.
No one.
You can look up the stats but the average is usually 8-12 touchpoints (calls, emails, LinkedIn, etc.) before a prospect responds with focused interest.
And that's IF you have highly-relevant, tailored messaging and you're able to demonstrate credible competency in impacting the business outcomes the prospect is focused on.
Yep, I got ghosted for months too, and I’m still here. Sales isn’t magic, it’s math and timing. Most prospects don’t respond the first time. Or the second. I focused on refining my pitch and building my own prospect list. You know what? The reps who close fast usually burn out faster. You’re doing the hard reps now so you can build real endurance later.
My first year in tech sales was basically a masterclass in getting ghosted by prospects. Sometimes I felt like I was just shouting into the void and questioning if I even belonged in sales. It’s honestly way more common than people admit, especially for freshers; most of us spent months (or longer) struggling to get responses or close anything, and it can feel super isolating when your coworkers seem to have it all figured out. What helped me was focusing on small wins, learning from every “no,” and reminding myself that even the best reps had rough starts. Persistence really is the name of the game in this field.
Have had trouble as an SDR but when I moved into my AM it got much easier
Just got to give them a reason to speak with you
Last year, I had tons of warm leads and SO MANY of them led to nothing. After the initial interest, they vanished. I would follow up to crickets. Gotten better this year, but sometimes that is just how it goes out there.
I.made 300 calls a week zero call backs new position after 6 months got canned
You focused on quantity instead of quality and that's why you got zero callbacks.
There was no relevancy.
