Nope. In fact, I was strongly opposed in college & wanted to be a corporate trainer. It wasn't until I was in my 30s that I started thinking that was what I would do.

I had four terrific English teachers in high school, but I originally wanted to be a math teacher (shout out to Mr. Griffin, rest his soul, for the inspiration). College calculus in my third semester in college, however, pretty much opened my eyes to my level of mathematical incompetence.
Since I was acing my English classes at the time, I realized my forte was words, not numbers. Here I am in my 29th year living the English teacher dream.

No, I hated English in high school.
Yes! I had a number of awesome English teachers who put that live for the subject in me. Those ladies were simply the best!
Although I loved English, I wanted to be a lawyer. I'm double certified in Language Arts and Social Studies so I really could teach either.

Yes, absolutely! Shout Out to Mrs. Ewing! I loved her sarcasm and wit, but I also loved that she definitely knew what she was doing, and had high expectations for all of us, when it came to teaching English!
