Nope! Unless you’re specifically applying to an industry that’s related to that hobby (eg. music, gaming, movies, sports, etc).
I feel like hobbies and sharing personal info like this leads to bias. Eg. Rich folks sharing hobbies or judging people because of what they do in their spare time. What someone does outside of work should not have an impact on whether they’d be right for the job.
Or maybe it’s just because I have weird hobbies 🤷♂️
I don’t but some people say it may help establish a personal connection. My perspective is if someone is going to interview you they will interview you regardless if you share interests or not. If it’s not directly pertaining to the job, education or professional experience I wouldn’t sweat it.
No I don't. I also don't put my religious affiliation and church committees I serve on. I don't mention any civic clubs or social organizations I belong to or support. I'm applying for a job, not running for mayor.
No, not since I was a new grad and needed my resume to try to provoke more personal connection. Now that I'm much further along in my career, I can rely more on my network for that as well as having more experience and accomplishments to rely on.
No, but I included professional development things I had accomplished and my interviewer asked about those like it was impressive to them.
