Personally, the work matters. I value the creative process and I love the challenge of uncovering and selling in new ideas. It’s what drives me. I’ve made the mistake of going to a less creative shop based on salary and work/life balance. I made it 18 months but was bored out of my mind. If I wanted less of a creative environment but still be an account-like person with a much bigger salary, I’d become a client.
If you’ve felt what it’s like to create truly great work, you’ll never settle for less.
I haven’t. I usually pick it based on clients in addition to salary, agency reputation, etc. At the end of the day clients and creative work are the same no matter where you go. Generally the same issues and concerns no matter what they say. So you just have to see if you and deal with it based on salary, title and mobility.
Well regardless if they’re sure, they’re wrong
I’m driven by creative. I want to be a part of good work and want a client that wants good work. It makes a huge difference when showing up to work everyday. But everyone is different! Everyone has different drivers.
I go for creative agencies hands down. I also expect everything else you mentioned. Some aren’t as fussed on the work. It depends on the account person.
Yes the work definitely matters.
The work drives me 100%. Being a part of a team that you are proud of is crucial to giving your job purpose - truly believing in the work that comes out of your agency and watching the creative team nail it inspires me constantly. I think it may depend on who you ask - but I believe a good account person will advocate for the work and the people and the organization all at once.
The work definitely matters.
