Do agencies have in-house recruiters? I've been wondering about the layoff culture in the last few years, and if it has caused a change in how open agencies are to expand the team rather than keep it condensed. When there are open roles on agency websites, is the first priority to fill internal employees or external candidates?

Most agencies do have in-house recruiters, at least the ones I know. Tighter budgets mean fewer jobs. Generally, external candidates are the goal, but not always. Does anyone work somewhere where the internal movement is good?

Yes

Bigger shops usually do, smaller ones often lean on managers plus external recruiters. The layoff waves definitely made a lot of places cautious about adding headcount. When a role opens, internal candidates do get a look, but it’s rarely “internal only”, they still want options.

Anyone have experience with cold emailing CDs looking for freelance? My network hasn’t been coming through lately. Is it an annoyance, or could it be worthwhile?

I’ve been working for a small investment firm for about a year and am having some issues with my boss. We have a weekly check-in but he’s ALWAYS 2-3 hours late, or skips the meeting altogether without warning. He also never replies to any of the emails I send. I already spoke with him about these issues, but things haven’t really changed. I really like the work I do but I’m starting to feel frustrated about the situation. Any advice? Or anyone else in a similar situation?

Have an offer from a dream company but I'll need to go in at a lower level. Knowing that I can bring a lot of value to the company (read- I know my worth), I negotiated with the hiring manager to have a level/comp review 6 months after employment. If I hit all my goals (ie, prove myself) within that time frame, I'll get a promotion and salary adjustment.
QUESTIONS:
Should this be in writing in the offer letter?
How detailed should it be? I assume I won't know what goals to set till I start...

I got an offer at Meta as a 3-mo contingent CSM that pays 2x what I make now.

Two pros: 1) Making the jump from a non-tech agency role to FAANG can be tough, so this is a great oppo in that aspect.
2) I'm living in SF on a non-tech salary, so the pay increase would be incredible.

It’s possible I could move into a similar role @ Meta once this expires, but to be safe, I'd need to start the job hunt again asap.

Thoughts on the pivot & how valuable a short-stint at Meta is for future job hunt?

I’m reviewing my resume getting ready to start my job search and have a question for recruiters, hiring managers. I’m looking for a role brand-side not agency side. Specialist roles aside, such as digital, when you see someone describing themselves as a “generalist marketer” is this a resume you’d pass on? My past roles have been such that I do a lot of marketing projects, tasks etc. but I’m not a specialist. I’m worried if I use this terminology I won’t even be considered for a role. Thank you
