Hi all.
Has anyone in IBM been on bench for more than 4 months here?
I have been on bench for almost 4 months now & have been getting automated mails asking me to get assigned to a project by searching one by myself, else necessary action might be taken.
And are there any chances of being straightaway fired based on these automated mails?
I would genuinely need an advise from someone who is aware of this kind of situation.
Thanks in advance

It's hard to answer that for certain, but in most cases businesses will only confirm dates of employment and won't get into any performance or personnel issues. They tend to stay away from that for liability reasons. If they slam somebody and word gets out they may get sued, so they don't want to get close to opening that door.

That aligns with what I have heard too. The liability risk seems to keep most employers very factual.
I'm not in human resources, but from what I've heard, it doesn't show. If they call to do an employment verification, it will probably be reported whether you were terminated. They might say whether you're eligible for rehire. I would just be honest, people get fired all the time.

I think the fear comes from how blunt those application questions are. Being factual without oversharing feels like the safest middle ground.

Background checks usually confirm dates, title, and sometimes eligibility for rehire, not the reason for leaving. However, if an application directly asks and you answer inaccurately, that can create risk later. I would frame it as role elimination or mismatch, not lie outright.
I'm in a similar situation. 30 years in the industry and first time being released for not hitting goals.
Agree with others your previous employer most likely will not disclose the reasons. Most companies don't even contact your last employer these days.
It's a delegate balance but I have been stating was released with a very brief reason. IE not the right fit and note it was not for other reasons.
Industries are a small world and it may get back to them eventually. Why chance it.
