Some, not much. Also from reading posts, the PMO work we do sounds different (working with PMO office leadership to help the implementation succeed vs. staff aug project managers). All, don’t get butthurt please, I may be wrong
Can you elaborate more on this aspect? Like would the whole team only be focused on working distinctly with PMO leadership.
From my experience, we would have some sort of “staff aug” if you will for analysts and consultants to help drive worksteams that are in the red or in dire need of help to meet deadlines. However, for the more senior roles it would be helping PMO Leadership and any associated governance leadership to achieve the overall goal. Effectively it’s a split of roles since it would be helping to run the overall program. I would necessarily call it staff aug since it’s a role specific to the overall program.
I just wanted to get a better sense of the comparison. Thanks.
McK does a ton of PMO now. And yes to A1, implementation group is probably where you want to be.
McKinsey Implementation is not staff augmentation either. It is helping and coaching executives and middle management to ensure successful and sustainable delivery. It is slightly different than the big 4 Implementation
Try McKinsey implementation group. Specific career path focusing on implementation and coaching.
We have PMO projects as well. Most folks prefer other types of work, so it won’t be hard to get on those projects if you want to focus on them
^^ Same at BCG
Our implementation work is usually a continuation to a diagnostics or strategy work. It’s coaching transformation leaders, providing tools, training, financial tracking and so on. We work not only with leadership, but also middle management and front line. We focus on change management, and things like that
Kinda confused as to what MBB PMO/Implementation does. MCK2/others, y’all have more details? Just curious - I’m in implementation.
Ahh I see it honestly sounds very similar which is good to know for interviews in such. When my friends explained, it sounded like the above
