I graduated with my Ph.D. last year and have been in the US since 2013 (MS and then PhD). I’ve been in OPT since last year and recently got the STEM extension. Since I’ve passed 5 years on my F1 visa - I’m considered a resident alien for tax purposes. But since I’m still working on OPT and don’t pass the substantial presence test - am I exempt from FICA taxes?

Hi Ladies!! Trying to get a pulse check/sanity check. I’m current a Business Analyst and have been with the same company for 4 years. The benefits are fabulous (unlimited time off and random mental health days) and have the ability to really work from anywhere.
