My LWD is 2nd November 2022. I have experience in Angular, React, Nodejs, HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, MSSQL.

I have worked on multiple Google projects and tools, ranging from spreadsheets to Google Data Studio. Basis familiarity with the Google systems, I have applied to endless jobs in the organisation. However, I have no idea why is it sooooo difficult to even get an HR call for the screening.

Yes we are here, saw .com bubble in the year 2000 as well. This is a curve, things keep changing. IT is dependent on investment & demand, so these things happen. I had lost my job in 2008 recession & that made me stronger. Don’t speculate, we will be better if we learn to live through the curve. One day at a time…. Key learning - save as much as you can.

I agree with PM1. It's a cycle and atelast I did not see anyone who got fired being jobless for more than 6 months. Few had to join jobs for lesser salaries, but that's about it. But again things are changing. There are few folks back then and now there are lot more. Upskilling and having different set of skills is important. Other than technical skills, communication and interpersonal skills are important too
Also please note networking is very important in IT .
What I feel is, your relationship with the higher management is very important during this kind of situation. If they know this guy is dedicated and working hard then they will figure out something for you. Apart from this skill set is also important. If u r working in cloud, cyber security, BI then u r on the safer side I believe
Thanks PM2. I will add couple of my observations here - the need for up skilling has increased multi fold in last 5 years and now it is becoming a norm. In our days, over last 2 decades the technology shift wasn’t that high, so we could stay in same tech for a decade or even more. But now it’s different & I guess most of the folks could find it harder to up skill as they manage their personal life, family, kids, enjoying them grow etc and this will put lot of pressure on them eventually making them take an early retirement. I learnt that create enough wealth by the time you turn 40 so that you can choose what to do in life.
Also my family comes from defence background, so we didn’t learn the art of boot licking or buttering. So lost opportunities & sometimes connections because this. Always had been up front in my profession & never played politics & this gives me lot of peace of mind though
Worked through a hectic project for daily 12-14 hours a day. Was a restricted odc with no access to internet. No smartphones and even basic phone was recharged to a minimum as i used it just for emergency calls. My school and college friends went into other fields. Net result - i did not even know there was a recession unless i happened to talk about with some colleagues during the break a few months in the recession. I remember remarking i do not see any difference. Did hear a few people being laid off, but as others said it was lesser duration or people joined for lower salary.

And back then even after working 12 hours we managed decent WLB. Now a days even with 9 hours work people can't manage WLB.
