Do you feel like COVID made your job seem cooler or more important? Thinking of people who work for Zoom, Slack, or just anything that people pay a bit more fing attention to and appreciation for.

Honestly, I think everyone jumping online brought down the coolness factor of being a remote worker.

There are many people and businesses on both sides of the spectrum post covid. You can almost tell that by looking at the past 3 years stock charts of public companies. Almost all of the big names in tech benefited from Covid one way or other.

Nah, I'm still just the introverted dev behind a CPU all day. Nothing cool about that

I have a buddy who works for Zoom… he enjoyed the stock grants poppin off but he was miserable

Covid made my job more vital. I honestly never have seen small businesses really learn how to adapt like I do now.

Yep. My company sells workflow management software sooo we got crazy busy

I might get roasted for asking such a basic question but - how much do you budget for eating out ($ amount or % of budget)?

Pre pandemic I was traveling 5 days a week and just used left over per diem on the one night I went out with friends at home. During covid I stayed home. Now that I’m fully vaccinated and are many of my friends they want to go out to eat/drink. During covid I moved from a LCOL to here so I’m experiencing delayed sticker shock at the prices. Any tips?

Hi all. I am trying to determine if I am being compensated fairly. I am a tax manager (about to start my second year as manager) and have been with EY since staff 1. I was promoted to manager in June 2020 (during covid) and received a 7.5% raise. The class above me has mentioned they received much higher raises during their promotion years. My base salary is now approx. 97K. Any insights would be extremely helpful. Thanks!

My old employer asked me if I wanted to come back to the company as a manager. The pay will likely be much better and the position holds more responsibility than I’ve had before, so overall it would be a step up. The issue is I left the company because of an abusive manager who constantly put me down and made me feel like I wasn’t doing anything right. If I come back I’d be working under her again. I’m torn because the opportunity is great but the stress was awful. Continued in comments…
