I assume you mean a work cell phone.
I went without a work cell phone for many years and only ended up getting one because I was compelled to. I am personally fine without it.
Having one means that you are always tied in to what is going on at work, so I always make it a point to turn it off when I am not working.

It's nice to especially leave it at home when going away for the weekend
It's a good idea to have a separate company issued phone for work matters. In what would be something of a worst case scenario, if your company is sued and you've been using your personal phone for work, your phone could be subpoenaed. The downside is that you have to carry around another phone, but overall it's probably worth that minor hassle just to keep work stuff out of your personal phone.

Not sure why the case being presented is either / or. Before I had a work cell phone, I never used my personal cell phone for work. All communication was strictly desk phone landline and email / IM on my laptop.
Maybe that is easy for me to say considering I never worked remote, hybrid, or had a need to travel. But I never had a problem with that system.
It's good for travel to have connectivity especially international travel but if you are just working in an office it's a pain!

I don’t do much international
Yes, I mute it

lol so do you ever use it?
I used to have a company phone as my only phone for a long time. Then, I decided to leave this company and it was quite some hassle to move all my contacts, apps and everything to my private phone. Ever since, I have two phones, one personal and one company phone. However, I am working as a field service engineer, so I need to call customers and have to be available at certain times. I had never had any disadvantages with my company phone.
I probably wouldn’t even consider it unless my company paid for it.
I have a separate phone number for work related calls and messages. I use the iPhone feature of eSIM. Mobile device is my personal and I have additional line on it. I can turn it off anytime I want to avoid work calls. I receive a monthly allowance for work phone direct deposited to my bank account.
No. Give total strangers and people who only interact with you because they’re being paid your personal cell phone number. Nothing could possibly ever go wrong.

I have one and that's just because I don't need my coworkers all having my phone number since it is attached to my email.
If you mean a dedicated company phone I've worked at companies that 1 - gave you a stipend if you used a personal phone 2 - issued a company phone or 3 - were old school with desk phones but asked for personal cell numbers to reach you in emergencies. The stipends were okay until the company started wanting access to monitor what apps were installed on the phone and get access to everything. And like the person below, my personal phone was subpoenaed during an investigation of the company. If they aren't offering one and you don't need use of a company phone, I wouldn't mention it.
