Do you send client holiday gifts? How much do you spend on them? How do you handle it now that teams are WFH and scattered? Feels weird to ask a bunch of people for their home addresses. But a digital gift card seems so impersonal. Any good ideas?

I used to send swag boxes. This year thinking to just send nice bottles of alcohol to referral sources and clients -- those that don't drink alcohol, I'll likely send a gift basket. Typically spend ~$100 pp unless large client and or referral source (have spent up to 1k)

My partner and I send weird mementos of the projects we do. And luxury foods from where we’re based, for the whole team to share. Seems to work. Maybe 150 per client.

In this case, according to TCS talent policies, what is the procedure and the benefits that he can avail, as part of project initiated relocation? Also, how long it takes to get base location changed through HR in TCS?

So my query is will they call me for next round?I really wanna get selected since Deloitte is mydream company

How do you feel about leaving a company shortly after joining?

I've been told by people to not be loyal to companies & I've seen posts in forums where people have talked about leaving workplace 1, at workplace 2 for like 3 weeks, and already interviewing for workplace 3 (and the recruiter for workplace 3 doesn't even know that the person has left workplace 1). That feels a little disingenuous and...bad etiquette maybe? What do you think?

A former studio I worked for submitted some my work for consideration for an award, but I’m mis-attributed in the awards credits for something I didn’t do. What should I do?

I'm looking for advice from those who have freelanced remotely with an international agency.

I'm based in NYC and have had firms in Canada and England reach out about projects. The agencies have offices in the US but I would be working w/ their international teams (servicing US based clients). I've asked for my standard rate in USD converted to their currency.

Any advice on the best way to get paid? Have you asked to get paid by the US office instead? Any watch-outs for tax season?

TIA!

Any San Francisco peeps have a good accountant who specializes in taxes for freelancers/contractors?

Trying to avoid paying an accountant, can I actually write off home office space/mileage if I was just permalancing for 3 months last year? Shouldn’t the 7 months of W2 take care of this 1099 shit?

I just booked freelance pitch gig. I’m so incredibly nervous. I’ve been full time for years and have never freelanced on a pitch. Words of encouragement and wisdom appreciated.

How would you rate the freelance market at the moment? I’ve recently quit fulltime, and beyond a couple of my own (LLC) short client projects - I’ve had zero agency freelance over the summer.
I have 10 years exp (2.5 as CD on well known brands) at respected agencies, and some awards.
What am I doing wrong? I left FT to address some long term burnout, but now I’m afraid if this continues - I’ll have to go back full time, without even snagging a FL gig. 🫤

Place I'm at is asking for a one day extension. They want to prorate my monthly rate by dividing 30 days instead of business days. Wanted to know if this is odd. My current contract caps at 40/week

1099 or w-2 ? I have been given the option though the company prefers w-2. It’s a day rate booking couple of months or more (no end date). I already have 1099 from similar company this year and am leaning towards 1099, but I don’t want to be difficult. I do take home office deduction and they are not supplying any equipment. Suggestions?
