I have applied to several positions up Google. I have not heard anything back at all. No matter if I customize my résumé to the job description I still don’t hear anything back. I am wondering as to why Google ghost people instead of just telling them that they didn’t get the job? Do people on Google believe it is appropriate for the recruiters just a ghost people especially if they feel they don’t match the job?

Has anyone else begun to resent data science?
Got messaged by a C3 . ai recruiter. Read that wlb is bad and that the interview process is absurdly long, but the Glassdoor reviews are 4.2 and can't find actual hours worked posted by anyone. How's the culture really? I'd be aiming for DS consulting, something more functional but with DS/ML concepts as my differentiator.

Data engineers, data analysts, and data scientists all do different things. They aren’t interchangeable, so I wouldn’t switch your job title.
You say that, but everyone on LinkedIn thinks different 😂😂 (I agree with you)
I personally think that Data Engineering, in general, is more valuable - coming from a Data Scientist. Most people at senior levels don't really understand how to incorporate AI/ML technologies into their existing day to day business, are not necessarily experienced enough to lead those projects, and/or lack the technical understanding to realistically understand the requirements. Just based on my experience.
People say AI a lot but they need to get digitisation correct first. Most companies haven't done that. That's why I think Data Engineering is more valuable.
A1 I think you hit the nail on the head. This idea is definitely lost on many people outside the tech world. My question was mostly centered around the perception of DE
These lines are all pretty blurred nowadays. Any way as consultants we are changing our roles and scopes very frequently. I have held all three of these titles at one point, depending on client demands
Maybe it depends on where want to apply to? I’m at a pretty large firm and the role differentiations are very clear and separate; maybe at smaller places they’re more blurred. For example, our data scientists have to have specifics qualifications that I don’t as a data analyst to even get that role, and same with our data engineers. We have some overlap, but not enough for me to call myself an engineer or scientist.
I think it’s ok to describe in your resume how you acted as others depending on client demands. But I wouldn’t change the role title personally (and this would come up in background check anyway). There are ways to move away from BO roles just using the experience you have.
Based on my job search in this space last year, a lot or quant research roles really only want PhD holders. Some don't. Of course, you could qualify - I don't know your background.
Think of all the data that gets “created” in a given day. After it is stored in whatever form then what? DA/DS need access to clean, enriched data easily, consistently every time and all the time. That is where you come in.Build systems that pipe data from wherever to whom ever wants it for whatever reason so that they can make “better” decisons aka more money 💰😀 . We are maybe 1/3rd way through data driven renaissance.
